Base Jack: Create a Ground Evidence Card Before Scaffold Setup

A base jack helps a scaffold start from the intended level, but it cannot turn an unknown support condition into an approved one. Before an access package is assembled, a short ground evidence card can give the site team, designer, and supplier the same starting picture without asking a product description to answer a project-specific question.

Begin with the support condition, not the adjustment

A base jack is a ground-level adjustable component in a scaffold arrangement. That simple role is useful, yet it is often discussed only after a crew finds a change in level or a damaged surface. A better sequence is to record what the support points actually meet, then route the record to the person responsible for assessing the arrangement.

This is not a design calculation and it does not authorise erection. It is a practical handover tool: it keeps a visible distinction between observed conditions, supplied product information, and the project decision that must follow. What to place on a ground evidence card

When a team asks about a base jack, the supplier conversation should say whether the need is to match an identified existing component or to support a new system package. A clear request can include the relevant system reference and product information needed for comparison. It should not imply that a supplier has approved the ground, loading, layout, or final use.
